Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 390 Fahrenheit. This temperature will allow us to get a soft chewy center with a nice crisp edge.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together butter, vanilla, and sugar into a soft slightly fluffy consistency. You can choose to beat air into this using a whisk, but I typically use a spatula or a stand mixer with the paddle attachment.
  3. Add in the baking powder and soda, flour, salt, eggs, and chocolate chips. Using your hands or a spatula, mix together until you have a ball of dough with no visible clumps of flour.
  4. Split the dough into two even chunks. Use each chunk to form 12 equal sized balls of dough. To form smooth balls of dough you can roll small chunks of dough in the palm of your hands.
  5. Place 12 balls of dough on a baking sheet then bake at 390 Fahrenheit for 6-8 minutes before rotating the pan in the oven 180 degrees to ensure even baking. Bake for an additional 2-4 minutes or until golden brown around the edges. Make sure to bake one pan at a time to ensure best results. You may notice some moisture in the center of the cookies, but this is completely okay and expected!
  6. Let cool on the tray for at least 5 minutes before removing and placing on a serving tray or wire rack.
